This reading comprehension bundle includes 4 lovely fiction stories.
The vocabulary is age-appropriate and children are encouraged to work out the meaning of words in the context of the story.

If you are looking for extra reading material then this product contains three reading passages with pumpkins being the central topic of the passages with comprehension questions. Included in the passages are some types of pumpkins, Thanksgiving and the custom of carving pumpkins at Halloween. Pictures are included within the passages for students to refer to. It would be ideal for students to partner up and read together and then answer the questions.
To create interest you could bring in two or more varieties of pumpkins and ask students when they are most likely to see lots of pumpkins.

There are 7 consonant blends worksheets containing 9 blends pictures on each sheet with incomplete words. Students select the correct missing blends from the grid using the picture clues.
The blends are:
bl-, br-, cl-, cr-, dr-, fl-, fr-, gl-, gr-, pl-, pr-, sc-, sk-, sl-, sm-, sn-, sp-, st-, sw-, tr-, and tw-.
Writing activity: Worksheets 1 to 3
Students write simple sentences using each of the beginning blends shown in the grid with pictures. They should check their work making sure they start their sentence with a capital/uppercase letter and finish with a full stop.
Colour by Code - Beginning blend words and pictures with Solution:
The blends in this activity are colour-coded. The consonant blends are: fl, gl, cr, dr, st and tw.
There are two versions of this activity. One image displays words and pictures, and the second image displays only words beginning with the consonant blends. Students should read what colour to colour in the blend on each section of the picture. Once completed, they should see a shamrock in the centre.

There nine pictures on each page. The pictures end with consonant blends:

Below each picture is an incomplete word which students should complete by selecting the correct final blends or clusters from the box.
Final Consonant Blends: Spelling Corrections Worksheets A-D
The sentences contain incorrect spellings of the final blends. Students read the simple sentences and correct the spelling by rewriting the word in the box above the word.
Optional: Laminate and cut apart the final consonant blends for practical activities with the worksheets A to D. If students need help in solving the correct final blends on the worksheets, you can display 2 or 3 cards and ask which one would be the correct ending for the word. See example preview.
Word Puzzles: three differentiated word puzzles.
• Easier puzzle: The beginning letter of each word is shown in the word puzzle grid. Students use the picture clues and words to fill in the boxes across the page to reveal the hidden word written downwards.
